Why the Glock 19 is a Near-Perfect Handgun For Me

Perfection is okay. Also, here’s why I think the Glock 19 is nearly perfect.

  1. I’ve got 2 9mm Glocks, a G19 & G26. I’ve got friends and family who are .45 and .40 snobs but I chose 9mm b/c I’m just starting out and believed 9mm was right for me at this time. Now, for CCW, I’m taking a hard look at a S&W Shield .40, Glock 36, and Springfield XDs .45. I’ve come to believe width is as important as grip length for concealment and comfort. Great vid as always Andrew.

  2. I was just thinking the same thing about my glock 19. It’s boring reliable. Little to no character. No sexy lines. Nothing fancy. The only unique thing about mine is that the frame is OD green. I almost want another all black just so that I have a totally non unique one that I care less about.
If I had to have one handgun, it would be the glock 19.

  3. Just wondering, what do you not like about the 4th gen 19? Trying to figure out which one to buy

  4. I mulled over a lot of flashier handguns that did the same thing as the G19, but heavier, more expensively, with less confidence in reliability and spares, that needed some tweaking out of the box, or all of the above before settling on the Glock. I’m exceedingly pleased with my decision.

The Glock 19 is a handgun that you can buy, load, wear or stow and just forget about. It won’t get any compliments at fancy dress parties, but it does the job that’s required of it almost completely worry-free.

  5. You just made a better Glock ad then those new fancy ones floating around. It just goes to show what can be accomplished with simple, straight and reasoned arguments vs. flashy and overdramatized commercials. I realize your not pimping glock, and that isn’t the point of the article, but I literally want to go buy a Glock 19 after viewing the vid (which still misses the point, what works for you may not work for me). Anyway, you just made the first Glock 19 video in the history of the internet that was intersting.
This is why I read this blog.

  6. Well, I am not a Glock guy but whatever, Mostly I have been laughing for the last few minutes from your ending with the smirk lol

  7. I can’t stand Glocks. They’re ugly, don’t point naturally, come with terrible sights, have a tiny slide release, don’t have anything to prevent NDs, and are very ugly. Just my opinion though. If you like yours, good for you!

    • i think anybody that has had a degree of professional training to perform their job would probably agree that it isn’t a slide release, it is a slide stop. you should be slingshoting the slide (i forget, everyone online is a tier 1 tactical operator now and knows better)

  8. Owned a Glock 21 1st gen for years. It never could be relied upon to feed. Finally sold the POS. Besides, any pistol other than a 1911 just doesn’t feel right in my hand. Might have something to do with familiarity resulting from shooting them for 35 years. Perfect for me.

  9. I picked up a G19 recently in FDE put an extended slide release agrops and plan on a set of trijicon HD night sights and also the grip force adapter, I love doing mods and makes me feel my gun “tool” is special works for me. PS love Mustangs I own a 2008 Bullitt- big grin lol – PS did I say I really enjoy your video? Well I did – Thank’s

  10. I agree, Andrew. There may not be such thing as a “perfect” handgun, but the G-19 is closer than most.

  11. Hakuna Glock 19! What a wonderful phrase!

Hakuna Glock 19! Ain’t no passing craze!

It means no worries for the rest of your days

    It’s our problem-free philosophy

    Hakuna Glock 19!

  12. Free .40, means 23 is the near perfect handgun 🙂

By the way have you seen some of the studies that show when asked to define all the attributes, qualities, etc. about something to make an “objective” decision often result in a poor choice. Not sure if it applies to handguns or saying that the G19 is a poor choice. But, some of the studies are interesting, and it makes you wonder if shooting a gun and “liking” it the most, is a better yard stick than and the detailed scored attribute approach.

  13. Andrew,

I’m more attached to my 19 than any given t-shrit I own (the one exception would be my All Blacks playing jerseys), that being said mate, you are right on the money.

  14. “You should not have a favorite weapon, or any other exaggerated preference for that matter. To become overly attached to one weapon is as bad as not knowing it sufficiently well. You should not imitate others, but use those weapons which suit you, and which you can handle properly. ”

  15. It makes sense because it’s the most reliable machine for shooting bad guys, in the face.

  16. Recently purchased a Gen 3 Glock 19. Great all around gun. Also, own a G17 (range and dry fire gun) and a G26 (my carry gun). I can’t find any noticeable difference better shooting the G17 amd G19. However, I find the G26 harder to keep on target for rapid follow up shots and I’m considering trying the G19 as my carry gun when the weather turns cooler and the coats come out.

  17. Glocks are the best, and i own a 19 and its never failed, im in the woods often and i take the 10mm glock 29 in my opinion the perfect carry gun, in the backwoods or in town. They bith kuck ass

  18. Good video. I’m a Sig lover but I think I’m ready to go over to Glocks. Have only heard great things about the G19.
