Mexican Firearm Buyback Program

Interesting to see that nearly every weapon pictured is very, very old. Many do not even appear to be functional.

  1. Interesting that you have posted this as a local city near me is having a project “Gas for Guns”. Offering $100 for long guns and $150 for pistols. All must be functioning weapons. No questions asked of the person bringing in the weapons. I asked the officer in charge of the program if a felon can bring weapon and he responded with “Yes, they can.” They will use our tax money to run the numbers on them, store them, and then transport them 3 hours away to the DCI unit where tax dollars will pay to have them destroyed. They are even offering a Ben Franklin for air rifles. 8(

  2. These offers basically bring out guns held back by the non-shooting public, or those with a much better appreciation of getting paid two or three times what the gun won’t sell for on a gun show table. It shows the average citizen of Mexico is just as savvy about street value as we are – they AREN’T going to turn in a $650 rifle or auto pistol just on principle.

It also shows governments grow the same culturethink of useless showcase acts that appear to address the issue in print, but in reality, don’t do anything about the real problem. In Mexico, it’s their own Police coming over to cartels (some under duress) with their issue weapons, and their own lack of border control, with Central American guns from other government armories being criminally diverted and trucked north. As proven in Congressional testimony.
