  1. What is most sad to me is that H&K really fails to fill a market with these. They could make a USC in 9 and .40, but they drop the ball. Instead, Taurus is going to release their CT G2 and pick up those sales. H&K really needs to take a look at how they are releasing products in the US market and do some revision. They could do the same with their prices as well.

    • Well, I’m not sure that there’s a huge market for PCCs in the US anyway. They are a very useful niche product as I hinted at in the video…but lots of sales? Probably not…From what I have read, the Taurus carbine will weigh about twice as much as the UMP? I really do not think that any potential UMP buyer would even consider a 10lb Taurus PCC. For that matter, I do not know why anyone would buy a weapon that weighs more than an M1 Garand, is the size of an M4, and fires the same cartridge as a Glock 19.

I do agree that popularity would increase with the introduction of 9mm and .40 cal versions.

      • Actually, the weight being stated is a misprint. It is supposed to be closer to 6 pounds unloaded. As far as being a limited market, I can see that. It would be more of a plinking/fun gun for me since I have some good sources of free 9mm and 9mm is cheaper than 5.56. Some people see a .22LR as their plinking round, but it really isn’t my thing. PCCs do have limited use for civilians, but since they are already being made for LE, why not broaden sales of these a bit more by adding a longer barrel and removing full auto? That is really my point on the issue. I love ARs, but I am also one of those guys who likes some things that are off the beaten path. The UMP 9mm would be just perfect for that. If they made a USC in 9mm, I would be a happy guy. Very cheap for ME to shoot, and a cool little toy made by a top quality company.

Oh well, I may just get a Feather Rav 9 and some Glock mags. Much cheaper than a USC, but I really like the idea of a USC 9mm. Never going to happen, so I guess I should move on.

  2. I have read a few first-hand accounts of people who have held them. They all said that they were lighter than the posted weight. The number that kept popping up was around 6 pounds unloaded. Not a scientific assessment, but it was something I didn’t think was being made up. However, I will concede that the ones they were holding may have been lighter prototypes. Taurus says they are metal reinforced polymer, so 9-ish pounds could be correct for production. Either way, I have no desire to buy Taurus anything. They are not high on my list of weapon manufacturers. I am an M&P guy, with Glock and H&K close behind. I will give Taurus credit for putting something out there that, although is a blatant copy of the USC, is different than the other PCCs on the market… excluding the USC.
