As mentioned previously, I will be co-teaching an AR-15 course in Utah over Memorial Day Weekend. It will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 25/26. Here’s some info for those who may be interested in the course:
It’d be best to fly in to Salt Lake City on Friday evening, we should be able to pick everyone up from the airport. The range location is about 15 miles north of Tremonton, Utah. It’s pretty remote and the whole range is approximately 55,000 acres. This will let us do a lot of really interesting shooting.
Breakfast on Saturday will be at 0730, class starts at 0830. We will do some shooting at night on Saturday, but there will be a number of breaks throughout the day. We plan to wrap up Sunday late afternoon, but we’ll be around Sunday night in case anyone wants extra instructional portions or more one-on-one coaching.
The cost of the class is $300. Lodging is available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, up to you as to when you stay there, it’ll just be $50 per night to cover lodging and food. The rooms have bunk beds, so you’ll probably have a roommate.
Payment can be by check or credit card – we’ll be setting up a “product” on the Deliberate Dynamics webpage that can be purchased, if you’d like to pay by CC.
As for equipment, it’s pretty simple:
Rifle with sling
400rds ammo
3 magazines and one magazine pouch
Flashlight (weapon mounted preferred)
Eye/ear protection (day and night lenses)
Bag, backpack, OR bipod (bipod not required)
Sturdy clothing appropriate for outdoor use in potentially inclement weather
Kneepads/elbowpads might come in handy
At least two and preferably three sets of footwear are recommended (boots, shoes, and flip flops or shower shoes for the lodge)
All experience levels are welcome. We have a curriculum that new and seasoned shooters will learn a lot from. As long as you can handle firearms safely, you’ll be most welcome at the class.
This is really cool and a great price! i would love to do something like this if ou do it in the future.
I’m pretty sure that we’ll have more classes in the future.
I see the lodging expenses but how much for the class itself?
Thanks for pointing that out, I had put it in the first post but not the second. $300
Unfortunately I am not able to participate this time, but if you plan to have more classes in the future I would love to hear about it.
If a shooter was to attend a course like this with a Vz58 or other .223 rifle: would it still be a valuable experience? Or does “AR-15 centric” mean exactly that? I like the idea of a course thats more focused on more than just “shoot those 3 targets at 25 yards really really fast” but I have confess I keep selling my AR-15s and buying other 5.56 platforms.
The majority of the curriculum will be focused on learning on how ARs work and how to make that knowledge useful in the real world. But it won’t exclude other firearms. And external ballistics doesn’t change. So if you want to bring a vz in 223, feel free.
What general category of optic do you recommend? Over one mile is a bit far for my Aimpoint.
Haha, we will probably just be shooting to 600 with ARs. Any sort of sighting system, even BUIS or RDS without elevation adjustment, is fine.
As a Salt Lake shooter, I am excited to take part in the training! How late will the shooting go on Saturday night? If needs be, can evening shooting be made up on Sunday evening?
We’d most likely wrap up by 10pm. Were you thinking of driving up from Salt Lake each day? That might give you enough time to get a halfway acceptable night’s sleep. I don’t think we’d be able to have another night session at the range on Sunday, as both of us (instructors) will be doing other things at the lodge.
Thanks for the response. I actually play in a rock band here in Salt Lake of all prior Fallujah Marines and we have a big show but I wanted to attend the training and then try and make it back to our show then head back up Sunday morning.
Hmm, we can try to work with you on that. What time would you have to leave?
I would have to leave around 7:30-8 however it’s worth it to attend the rest of your training even I need to miss out on some night shooting. Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately I have prior commitments that weekend, but I would definitely attend an event like this in the future. The price and facility sound excellent, and a flight to SLC would be relatively convenient for me.
We got a better price on the range because it is a short notice “hot fill”, but the price in the future will be more. This is a great chance to get some training for a lot less since we were able to pass down our savings to you guys. Hope to see you all up there…….more info to follow
Are there any spots left? I looked at linked sniper country training website and this is not listed on their calender. I am still trying to get a day off for travel, otherwise I would like to sign up and take this course. I took one of Pannone’s classes and you were there, I think this will be a pretty good class.
I think we have one or two spots left. The link to sign up is here:

Thanks, my issue is still trying for day off. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”
Are you in AZ? A late Friday flight might work.
Thanks that is an option. I am a little hesitant about flying with a couple of rifles and gear. My plan has been to drive up, taking a couple of days and avoiding the long drive syndrome. Its a good plan, just one small obstacle. Also I have heard in SLC this place has killer Barbecue, if you have a chance to try it.

If I wasn’t finishing paramedic school right now, I’d be all over that. Sounds like a fun location and a fun class, at a great price. I hope you have more of these in the near future.
