Hi Andrew,
I’m gonna post this here since I’m not sure where else to put it. I was just watching a video of the new Benelli MR1 AR which you talked about in some of your guest posts at TFB. I was wondering if you could comment on one design aspect of this rifle that differs from AR-15 style ARs that I noticed.
I notice that the stock on the MR1 resembles Benelli shotgun stocks and differs from AR-15 stocks in that the stock isn’t direcly aligned with the bolt and barrel. I know that in AR-15s there is some sort of spring mechanism in the stock which is involved in the action of the gun. Could you elaborate on the mechanics involved and how Benelli is able to avoid this design consideration?
Also it would seem to me that there are ergonomic considerations involved: the Benelli stock will position the rifle higher up than a “straight back” AR-15 style stock when the butts of both rifles are held in the same spot on the shooter’s shoulder. What are the implications here?
Thanks!
Andrew,
