Scary FireClean Press Release Warns Of Doom
FireClean, in a new press release, states that the use of cooking oils as firearm lubricants is dangerous and could lead to the destruction of your firearm and injury - potentially even loss of life. FireClean has stated to me that they have NEVER used or even tested canola or soybean oils such as Crisco cooking oils as part of their formulation. Furthermore, they have repeatedly said that the only relevant testing when it comes to a firearm lubricant is lots of shooting. Lab tests and assumptions about chemical characteristics… Read More
Mirror, Mirror On the Wall, Which is The Most Racist Flag of All?
After reading the Newsweek article originally known as "It's Time to Haul Down Another Flag of Racist Hate," I was moved to write about what I feel is the most racist flag around. After all, we've managed to rid Amazon of the Confederate flag and Dukes of Hazzard reruns from late night TV. With this remarkable victory against the forces of evil under our belt, what's a socially conscious and (inherently guilty) white man to warn America about from the rooftops of the internet? A brave, intrepid journalist named Rick Perlstein has informed… Read More
We Shouldn’t Feel Bad About Nuking Imperial Japan
Earlier this year as the 70th anniversary of VE day approached, major news outlets discussed the upcoming festivities and showed interviews with veterans and speeches from politicians about the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation. We were reminded of the evils of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. All of this is, of course, true. As the 70th anniversary of VJ day approaches - especially today as this marks 70 years since the bombing of Hiroshima - nearly every media outlet seems focused on hand-wringing over the use of atomic weapons against… Read More
Reflections on Father’s Day
My dad died earlier this year. His death was unexpected, sudden, and peaceful. Well, it was peaceful for him. For us, less so. His death affected us immediately and has continued to do so over the last three months, even in ways we didn't initially recognize. [caption id="attachment_5040" align="alignnone" width="609"] My dad (left) as a bush pilot in Ontario in the 1970s. On the right is his friend Don Anjicanab (sp), an Ojibwe guide.[/caption] My dad was a very interesting man - I have written about him previously. I've learned even… Read More
Faxon ARAK-21 Problems
Here is a review of the Faxon ARAK-21 by Nathaniel Fitch. I'm glad he did a write up, because someone needed to.
Muzzle Device Test 2 In Final Stages
I've been working on a second round of muzzle device testing, and light is beginning to appear at the end of the tunnel. Like the first test, this would not be possible without help from multiple industry sources. In addition to the muzzle devices from the first test, I have been provided with the following devices: - Knight's Armament Co. Triple Tap - Smith Vortex/Good Iron - White Sound Defense FOSSA-556 - Surefire MB556K - AAC BrakeOut 2.0 - Fortis RED - Noveske KX3
The Carry Academy’s Drive-By Concealed Weapons Permits
A few years ago Arizona did away with the concealed weapons permit requirement for carry. I liked this because it allowed those in dire need of an effective method of self defense to carry a firearm as quickly as possible, but I also disliked it because it made a lot of people think that they didn't need to have any skill or knowledge in order to carry a firearm safely and effectively. I actually found my initial concealed carry class to be an excellent primer on the legal aspects of… Read More
Please Don’t Thank Me For My Service
When people thank me for my military service, I am put in an awkward and uncomfortable position which I do not like at all. Through conversations with other veterans, I have found that almost all of them dislike being thanked for their service as well. I know that most people mean well, and think that they are lifting our spirits by thanking us for our service. I know that previous generations of veterans did not receive warm welcomes when they returned home. I don't wish to sound ungrateful. I would… Read More
