Kudos to Surefire Customer Service

I bought several Surefire E1Bs years ago, and they've seen heavy use since then. Surefire's warranty covers everything but bulbs and tailcaps, but when one of the E1B tailcaps failed - instead of wearing out, it actually came apart - they covered it without any hassle, sending a new tailcap out right away. I didn't mention that I would thank them online, or that I had a blog - just that I needed a part replaced. Since I had already had the entire lens section of the other E1B replaced… Read More

SGT Dakota Meyer, USMC

Damn. If you're unfamiliar with this story, read this. After Wanat, COP Keating, and Ganjgal, two things are very clear to me: 1. The United States Army needs to clear out some field and staff grade officers. 2. The United States Army has completely failed at #1.

When Will We See True Firearm Innovation?

As yet another major firearm manufacturer announces a "groundbreaking, game-changing" product that is anything but, I have to ask - when will we see something that's truly innovative? Every new firearm that's been announced for the last few years - heck, probably more - has been presented to the consumer as if it is nothing short of revolutionary - in fact, that word is often used to describe the new product of the month. Almost invariably, though, this "revolutionary" firearm is simply an amalgamation of previous designs packaged in a… Read More

Bravo Company 16″ Lightweight Midlength AR-15 Followup

I'm not quite sure how long I've had this Bravo Company lightweight midlength AR. It's been a year or more - perhaps closer to two. Forgive me for this Zen moment, but if I had to identify with any inanimate object, it would be this rifle. For the longest time, I simply put an optic and a sling on the weapon and went shooting. You've probably seen it in photos if you've been following the blog for a while. Whenever I needed an AR, I most often grabbed this one.… Read More

Spike’s Tactical M4 LE Lightweight Carbine Review

Regular readers/viewers of the blog will probably recognize this rifle - or at least the receiver set - from a number of photos and videos that have been featured here. This carbine is basically an M4 LE Lightweight. Although only the M4 LE is listed on the Spike's Tactical website, the two are quite similar, with the exception of receiver color and barrel profile.

ATF Halts Importation of D Dupleks Dupo 7 .410 Shotgun Slugs

Yesterday, J&G Sales in Prescott, Arizona pulled DDupleks .410 shotgun slugs from store shelves, as the importers and distributors of the ammunition have been notified by the ATF that the ammunition is "not importable handgun ammunition." The Dupo 7 slug, like other DDupleks slugs, is made from steel. Although the Latvian company does market armor piercing shotgun slugs to LE and Military, nothing indicates that the now-banned Dupo 7 possessed these characteristics.

GlockTalk, I Told You So

I would like to thank Max Slowik at Guns.com, ElPresidio on Reddit, S474N on MujGlock.com, and anyone else who linked to my blog on this topic. It is much appreciated. I would also like to thank whoever posted my G19 Gen 3 vs G19 Gen 4 comparison video at GlockTalk last year (sincerely)...and the "senior members" of the forum who said the problems were my fault...and the moderators of the forum who never approved my registration there as VuurwapenBlog. It's probably better that I gloat from afar.

GLOCK Armorer’s Recoil Spring Assembly Notice

It seems that what has been known to the world for a year or more is now being acknowledged by Glock...sort of. Thanks to Angelo, the best 2111 in the USMC, for the heads up. Dear GLOCK Armorer: On September 6, 2011, GLOCK Inc. will begin voluntarily exchanging the recoil spring assembly (RSA) on its new Gen4 pistols shipped since 2009 GLOCK’s product development team has modified various elements of the RSA to ensure each pistol’s performance meets the company’s demanding standards.
